About the position
The Career Counselor at Serrato Corporation is responsible for delivering comprehensive counseling services to both residential and non-residential students, focusing on personal and social development, career employment, and behavioral support. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing support to help students achieve their personal and career goals. The counselor will also manage case loads, document sessions, and collaborate with various staff to ensure students receive the necessary resources and support throughout their enrollment and transition periods.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counseling services to students.
- Conduct intake assessments and document student history within the first 24 hours of enrollment.
- Provide ongoing structured counseling sessions weekly during the first 60 days and monthly thereafter.
- Schedule and conduct monthly group support sessions addressing specific issues.
- Collaborate with staff to manage student progress and achievement of goals.
- Identify students needing intensive services and refer them accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and interventions.
- Assist students in developing and updating their Personal Career Development Plans (PCDP).
- Ensure availability of counseling services during weekends and emergencies.
- Participate in Career Management Team panels for student transitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 15 semester hours in social services-related instruction.
- 1 year of experience in counseling or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students effectively.
