About the position

The Caregiver (Care Partner) at Oaks Senior Living is responsible for providing personalized care and support to residents in an assisted living environment. The role emphasizes the importance of resident well-being, dignity, and individual preferences while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Caregivers will assist residents with daily activities, maintain a clean and safe environment, and foster positive relationships with residents and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with Oaks Senior Living philosophy.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living according to individual preferences.
  • Protect confidentiality of personal and medical information.
  • Adhere to each resident's Negotiated Service Plan and report changes in condition.
  • Respond immediately to resident calls.
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in activities.
  • Assist residents during meal times and observe changes in appetite.
  • Maintain cleanliness in dining and resident areas.
  • Establish good relationships with residents and families.
  • Dispose of incontinent products according to policy.
  • Practice proper body mechanics during resident transfers.
  • Respond to resident emergencies following policy and procedure.
  • Promote individuality and maintain resident rights.
  • Complete required continuing education and maintain certifications.
  • Practice infection control and safety precautions.
  • Participate in special events and activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in caregiving to older adults preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Desire to work with older adults and a friendly disposition.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Satisfactory criminal history check required.
  • Physical exam by a licensed physician required.
  • Negative drug screen required.
  • Understanding of risks associated with infectious waste and chemicals.
  • Ability to react in emergency situations.
