About the position

The Cardiovascular Sonographer position at UNC Health involves utilizing radiologic sciences technology to perform diagnostic ultrasound studies for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The role focuses on delivering patient care, conducting various ultrasound procedures, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in vascular ultrasound and be committed to quality patient care and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competence in delivering pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment and emergency cardiac care.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated and properly maintained daily, performing quality assurance monitoring and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Generates ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures.
  • May perform staff training and education.
  • Monitors and records patient information, maintaining report storage and data systems, and preparing reports for charge entry.
  • Prepares procedure room and equipment for daily use, ensuring timely and efficient room preparation between procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Sonography, Radiology, or a related field within 3 months of hire, or completion of a twelve-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible with a requirement to become registered within one year from date of hire.
  • Good communication skills and knowledge of computers with typing proficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-5 years of previous experience with Duplex Ultrasound Vascular studies in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in a private practice or healthcare clinic.
