About the position

Verder Scientific Inc. is the local branch of Verder Scientific, a leading high-tech company in the field of sample preparation and analysis. We are a dedicated and motivated team of 41 people, located in Newtown, PA, and represent the six brands of our group in the domestic market, providing laboratories with innovative, precise and efficient solutions: Retsch is our specialist in laboratory mills and sieving equipment. Microtrac develops leading solutions for particle characterization. Carbolite supplies high-performance laboratory ovens. Eltra enables precise elemental analysis. QATM takes care of metallographic sample preparation and hardness testing and ERWEKA is our producer of pharmaceutical testing devices. Verder Scientific operates 13 production sites and eleven sales companies worldwide and are part of the German-Dutch technology group Verder, a group of companies with over 2000 employees around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support through troubleshooting via phone, email, and onsite for Carbolite Gero furnaces and ovens.
  • Perform onsite commissioning of new equipment.
  • Conduct in-house troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of equipment, including VSUS lab units.
  • Utilize CRM and ERP systems to generate accurate service and component quotations.
  • Maintain strong communication with key account personnel and end users while ensuring a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in high voltage electrical systems, vacuum systems, and PLC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of vacuum systems and familiarity with leak detection equipment.
  • Experience in rotary pump maintenance and the ability to safely work on high voltage three-phase systems.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical and gas schematics, technical drawings, and working with tools such as multi-meters and clamp meters.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be available to travel up to 60% and possess an understanding of mechanical systems, including mechanical assembly.
