About the position

The Captive Risk Manager at JPI Companies is responsible for overseeing and managing all captive insurance-related activities, ensuring compliance, regulatory oversight, and financial performance of the captive insurance program. This role involves strategic planning, risk assessment, and collaboration with various departments to optimize the captive's operations and support the company's broader business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the JPI captive insurance program.
  • Work with external consultants, legal teams, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and growth of the captive insurance program.
  • Develop and execute a business plan for the captive insurance program, including financial goals and risk management policies.
  • Monitor the captive insurance program P&L to balance risk transfer and financial performance.
  • Coordinate with CFO/General Counsel on risk management and financial objectives.
  • Develop premium payment processes and claims management systems for the captive insurance program.
  • Perform quarterly audits related to capitalization, collection, and claims.
  • Analyze and report on loss ratios, claims reserves, and performance indicators to senior leadership.
  • Drive strategic planning of the captive insurance program to align with JPI's business goals.
  • Assess and manage various insurance lines for program growth.
  • Establish and enforce internal insurance-related policies and procedures.
  • Manage third-party actuarial services and vendor partnerships.
  • Negotiate terms with reinsurers and brokers for cost-effective reinsurance programs.
  • Oversee P&L for the captive insurance program and conduct regular financial reviews.
  • Present quarterly financial and performance reports to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international insurance regulations and provide timely reporting on performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing captive insurance entities or large insurance portfolios, preferably in real estate and construction.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management and actuarial analysis.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, financial, and operational teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications like CRM, ARM, or CPCU are preferred.
