The 2nd Shift Position involves sorting, wrapping, inspecting, and packaging finished products for shipping or warehousing. The role requires the individual to work either independently or as part of a team along a conveyor, bagger operation, or table to ensure that products are properly sorted and packaged. This position is crucial in maintaining the quality and safety of the products, as it involves visual inspections to ensure that the candy meets the required standards for color and wrapping. The employee will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the plant and related facilities, ensuring a safe and sanitary working environment. In this role, the employee will assemble, fold, and tape cartons, as well as insert or box products as needed. They will weigh scrap materials and document the results, ensuring that any broken or imperfect products are sorted and placed in the appropriate scrap containers. The position also requires the employee to clean various areas of the facility, including walls, windows, partitions, and sinks, using appropriate cleaning methods and tools. The employee must adhere to all safety and sanitation policies and procedures set forth by Spangler Candy, supporting the organization's commitment to food safety and quality. Any observed problems or potential issues concerning food safety and quality must be reported to supervision immediately. The role also includes marginal job functions such as keeping the work area clean and orderly, recording scrap and production data, advising supervisors of packing problems or material needs, and completing other assigned tasks. The position demands good physical and mental capabilities, including the ability to perform close work, work under time pressure, and follow instructions accurately. The working conditions involve assembly line work with some exposure to dust, dirt, vibrations, noise, and cramped areas, and the employee may occasionally face risks such as burns, cuts, falls, and back strain.
