The Campus Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students and staff at Douglas High School. This position involves assisting school administration with the supervision of students and ensuring the security of school grounds. The primary goal is to create a safe school environment where students can learn and thrive. The officer will patrol various areas of the school, including hallways, restrooms, parking lots, and entrance and exit points, to monitor student behavior and ensure compliance with school rules. In addition to patrolling, the Campus Security Officer will conduct perimeter checks, ensuring that all doors, windows, gates, and fences are secure. The officer will check student hall passes and assist students as needed, ensuring that all campus visitors are present for legitimate reasons. In cases where students violate school rules, the officer will escort them to the appropriate authorities and intervene during disturbances as directed. The officer will also maintain a daily log of security activities and incidents, write incident reports as necessary, and keep the work area and guard shacks clean and orderly. The Campus Security Officer will work closely with the Principal and other school staff, attending safety meetings and training sessions as required. In emergency situations, the officer will respond according to established guidelines and assist law enforcement or emergency personnel as directed by the Principal. This position requires a proactive approach to security and a commitment to fostering a safe educational environment for all.
