About the position

The Campus Security Aide plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and property within the Baldwin Park Unified School District. This position involves patrolling school buildings, monitoring student behavior, enforcing school rules, and responding to emergencies. The aide will work under the supervision of the site administrator to promote positive student behavior and ensure compliance with district regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol school buildings, yards, and parking areas to maintain order and security.
  • Observe students during passing periods, brunch, lunch, and before and after school.
  • Check on students and visitors who appear to be loitering and advise them of school rules.
  • Monitor grounds and buildings for unauthorized persons, vandalism, fire, or other hazards.
  • Assist in supervising security during school bus loading and unloading, athletic events, and off-campus activities.
  • Control crowds at athletic and special events to ensure safety and prevent misconduct.
  • Check and enforce student violations of rules, including class cuts and use of controlled substances.
  • Attend necessary training provided by the District and/or outside vendors.
  • Assist in emergency situations and maintain routine records of incidents.
  • Operate a two-way radio to communicate with school office and district personnel.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Training or coursework in crowd control or behavior modification techniques is desired.
  • One year of experience working with targeted age students in supervision or related work is desired.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and maintain insurability by the District's insurance carrier.
  • Must obtain and provide the District with a Standard First Aid Certificate, a C.P.R. Certificate, and SB 390 certification within eight weeks of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a school environment or with youth supervision.
  • Knowledge of safe campus supervision methods and procedures.
  • Basic methods of individual and group intervention.
