About The Position

The Campus Safety Officer plays a vital role in fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for supervising students, monitoring campus activity, assisting visitors, and responding to safety concerns throughout the school day. The Campus Safety Officer is an integral part of the school community, providing guidance, de-escalation support, and ensuring compliance with school policies related to student safety and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in student supervision, campus safety, school administration, or a related field.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional and approachable manner.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle situations with discretion and good judgment.
  • Comfortable enforcing school policies while maintaining a supportive and respectful demeanor.
  • Ability to follow procedures and respond to safety concerns appropriately.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework and/or a two-year or four-year degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Training or certification in de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, or school safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in designated areas throughout the school day to promote a safe and respectful campus environment.
  • Monitor and observe campus activity, identifying and addressing potential safety concerns.
  • Welcome and check in visitors at the front gate, ensuring they receive proper authorization and passes.
  • Provide assistance and directions to students, staff, parents, and visitors.
  • Manage traffic flow and parking to ensure a safe drop-off and pick-up experience.
  • Conduct safety checks of buildings, bathrooms, and other campus facilities.
  • Use radio communication to relay important campus updates to other safety team members.
  • Respond to and de-escalate conflicts or disruptions involving students, staff, or visitors.
  • Complete written incident reports when necessary, documenting safety-related concerns or incidents.
  • Participate in emergency drills and procedures, supporting school-wide safety initiatives.
  • Be a visible and approachable presence on campus, fostering positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support campus safety and student well-being.
