About the position

The Camp Health Professional at Harbor Camps is responsible for supporting the health and well-being of transgender and non-binary youth during their summer camp experience. This role involves assisting camp nurses with medication administration, providing care for sick or injured campers, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to respond to emergencies, and a commitment to fostering a positive camp experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist camp nurses in distributing routine medications to campers and staff.
  • Provide first aid and medical care for sick or injured campers or staff.
  • Assess situations and determine when to defer to emergency personnel.
  • Maintain camper health records and ensure all necessary health documentation is completed.
  • Educate camp staff and campers on health-related topics during orientation and sessions.
  • Communicate health issues and concerns promptly to the head nurse and camp director.
  • Monitor and evaluate camp procedures and conditions related to health and safety.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the health center, including proper disposal of medical waste.
  • Be on-call overnight on a rotating schedule and respond to urgent medical calls.

Requirements

  • CPR Certification
  • Medication administration experience
  • RN License, EMT Certification, LPN, or CNA certification
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to respond to critical incidents and emergencies
  • Ability to build authentic relationships with diverse individuals
  • Focus on camper safety and well-being
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Physical ability to be on your feet for long hours.
