Working in a prototype and development machine shop and lab environment, the Senior Prototype Programmer and Machinist is responsible for the complete CAD/CAM multi-axis programming, machine setup and operation for creating complex machined parts independently in the Research and Development department. Experienced in creating 3D part models and assemblies in design software. You will work directly with Engineers and Lab personnel both inside and outside of the R&D department to develop working prototypes, new part components, modifications of existing parts and assemblies and provide design feedback for both DFM and DFA. This position is also responsible for maintaining and ordering the proper tooling required for creating parts, designing work holding and fixtures as required. Available software for performing daily tasks are Autodesk Inventor and Mastercam mill-turn and 5-axis. You must know how to setup and run twin spindle upper turret multi-tasking lathes and 3 and 5-axis mills along with being competent on manual knee mills, engine lathes, horizontal band saws and common shop hand and power tools independently with little to no supervision. This is a senior position with a minimum of 10 years direct hands on experience in advanced multi axis programming, 3D modeling, multi-axis machine setup and operation. We currently use Okuma LB3000 EXII multi-tasking lathe with twin spindles and upper turret and Okuma Genos 3 axis mill, both with the newest PS-300 controls. Okuma experience not required but must be able to learn via proper training.
