About the position

The Cafe Barista position at a Hoboken cafe involves preparing and serving high-quality coffee and tea drinks while providing excellent customer service. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, with a focus on morning and afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards.
• Properly handle and maintain all equipment.
• Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
• Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures.
• Serve customers quickly and efficiently.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings.
• Observe relevant health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience with manual espresso machines and gourmet coffee service.
• Experience in retail, hospitality, and/or customer service.
• Strong ability to multi-task.
• Ability to problem solve quickly.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep love and passion for quality coffee and espresso.
• Great working knowledge of manual espresso machines, coffee brewers, and manual espresso bean grinders.
• Understanding of brew ratios and milk textures.
• Willingness to continue learning new coffee-related techniques.
