About the position

The Café Attendant at Fox's Deli @ The JCC is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced café environment. This role involves preparing and serving beverages and food, handling cash transactions, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating with team members to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, take orders, and answer any questions about the menu.
• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages according to café standards.
• Assist in the preparation of pastries, sandwiches, and other food items as needed.
• Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Handle cash and credit card payments, and manage the cash register.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including tables, counters, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels of coffee, food supplies, and other essentials.
• Assist with restocking and placing orders as needed.
• Work effectively with other staff members to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive team environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a café or restaurant setting.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with customers and address their needs.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift items up to 20 pounds as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
