About the position

The Assistant Controller position within the CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice at CliftonLarsonAllen focuses on providing accounting services to nonprofit clients. This role is designed for individuals who seek variety in their work and enjoy direct client interactions. The Assistant Controller will oversee accounting tasks, perform month-end close duties, and prepare financial reports, contributing to the success of clients' organizations while working in a supportive environment of a top national firm.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff accountant work and perform month-end close duties including complex account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
  • Analyze and interpret financial information that client leaders need to make sound business decisions.
  • Prepare financial reports for creditors, regulatory agencies, and tax authorities, and others.
  • Schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and identify corrective actions when necessary.
  • Independently prepare financial statements.
  • Maintain knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience as a senior accountant, assistant controller, Senior Auditor or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Heavy user of accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, Intacct, Bill.com, Expensify, Fathom, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to local client sites as needed.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
