About the position
The Business Office Specialist at the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office is responsible for managing financial operations within the Civil Process Office. This role ensures compliance with state finance laws and accounting principles while overseeing general accounting and accounts payable functions. The position requires interaction with various staff and the use of specific accounting software to maintain financial integrity and support the office's operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor financial operations to ensure compliance with budgets and policies.
- Manage all Civil Process Office bank accounts, including reconciliation.
- Process vendor invoices and updates in MMARS and QuickBooks.
- Analyze and recommend policies to enhance internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with records retention schedules for fiscal documents.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring the annual budget and spending plans.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of state financial and procurement systems.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth fiscal and budget processes.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks.
