About The Position

As the Business Manager for the Marketing and Production and Bravo! Performing Arts Series departments at Brigham Young University (BYU), you will be the financial backbone behind the arts community. This role involves stewardship, accountability, and ensuring the operational success of venues and guest artist series. If you enjoy financial data analysis, streamlining budget workflows, and collaborating with creative teams, this position directly supports BYU’s mission to provide a spiritually strengthening and intellectually enlarging environment through the arts. This is a part-time position working 28 hours per week, eligible for excellent part-time benefits.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in financial management, budgeting, or accounting roles.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet software (Excel) and enterprise financial systems.
  • Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accountancy (MAcc), or related graduate degree.
  • 4+ years of financial experience, ideally within an academic institution or a performing arts/production environment.
  • Strong collaborative communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial creative partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and reconcile complex operational budgets.
  • Process, review, and track expenses and revenues across multiple production and marketing accounts.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present clear financial reports and projections to department heads to guide strategic spending and seasonal planning.
  • Ensure all financial transactions, vendor contracts, and student payroll allocations align with university policies and internal auditing standards.
  • Coordinate settlement details for guest artists, touring groups, and large-scale productions, ensuring accurate and timely contract payouts.
  • Identify bottlenecks in current purchasing or reimbursement workflows and implement efficient, data-driven solutions to support busy creative teams.
