About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a junior to mid-level Business Financial Analyst to support a Department of War organization executing complex military programs. The selected candidate will provide financial analysis, budget tracking, and program execution support to Government. This position supports day-to-day financial operations associated with acquisition, sustainment, engineering, and mission-focused defense activities. The ideal candidate will assist with budget development, funds tracking, cost analysis, and financial reporting. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced defense environment requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support multiple concurrent tasks and priorities. This position is located in near the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, program control, or business operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to organize and analyze financial data and present results clearly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team supporting Government customers and defense programs.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoW, Army, Navy, Air Force, Missile Defense Agency, or other Federal programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD budgeting, appropriations, and funds execution processes.
  • Experience using financial systems such as GFEBS or similar enterprise tools.
  • Familiarity with defense acquisition processes and program management environments.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports and financial briefings.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning, execution, and analysis activities for DoW acquisition and sustainment programs.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of program budgets, spend plans, and funding trackers.
  • Monitor commitments, obligations, expenditures, and remaining funding balances.
  • Prepare financial reports, budget summaries, spreadsheets, charts, and briefing materials for program leadership.
  • Support reconciliation and validation of financial data across Government and contractor financial systems.
  • Assist with tracking contract funding, labor execution, travel costs, subcontractor costs, and Other Direct Costs (ODCs).
  • Conduct financial analysis to support program execution reviews, funding decisions, and resource planning.
  • Support preparation of budget documentation, funding requests, and financial inputs for program reviews and leadership briefings.
  • Coordinate with program management, contracts, logistics, engineering, and resource management personnel to support financial activities.
  • Assist with identifying financial risks, execution issues, and funding shortfalls and support development of mitigation recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, databases, and supporting documentation in accordance with DoW policies and audit requirements.
  • Participate in meetings, working groups, and integrated product teams supporting program execution and resource planning.
  • Support development of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, cost projections, and financial forecasts.
