About the position

The Business Development Specialist role at Interstate Batteries is designed to drive profitable growth within existing accounts and acquire new business within a designated territory. This position serves as the primary sales leader for the Distributor and requires effective collaboration with various team members, including MGM, AGM, RSMs, and office and warehouse staff. Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, pursue, and land new Traditional ILD and Non-Mandated NAC dealers for the Distributor.
  • Physically set up new customers with racks, batteries, POP, testers, and ensure they are on route with proper documentation.
  • Educate dealers on relevant programs, product development opportunities, and available training.
  • Develop an assigned customer list of approximately 100 identified growth dealers.
  • Execute business reviews on growth dealers, assessing current performance and identifying opportunities.
  • Assist with additional dealer visits beyond growth dealers as needed.
  • Leverage Salesforce for prospecting, pipeline development, and documenting activity.
  • Communicate pricing actions to operation dealers and react to monthly GP reports as required.
  • Assist with A/R collection calls and customer visits as needed.
  • Maintain a minimum of 15 prospect calls and 12 growth dealer meetings per week with defined business purpose.
  • Visit NAC dealer locations based on company needs.
  • Meet or exceed established targets for new unit sales production and growth dealer goals.
  • Respond to and manage dealer issues and complaints.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of Business-to-Business sales experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop sales.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer and results driven.
  • Concise and professional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Office and Excel required.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Concur, Workday, Tableau preferred.
