About the position

The Business Analyst position at a Fortune 50 company in Jersey City, NJ, focuses on financial analysis and budget management within the IT department. The role requires strong communication skills and a solid understanding of IT budgets, forecasting, and GAAP accounting principles. The successful candidate will prepare annual budgets, provide management reports, and ensure compliance with accounting policies while interacting with project managers and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Annual Budget and Forecast as required.
• Provide Senior IT Management with monthly management reports and variance analysis.
• Ensure the integrity of the monthly allocation of IT, Data Center, and Amortization costs.
• Lead the month-end closing process and review month-end project cost reports.
• Interact with Project Managers and Senior Information Officers to facilitate their ad hoc requests.
• Manage project level cost results and ensure adherence to internal accounting policies.
• Recommend and lead modifications to the systems supporting budget development, cost forecasting, and project accounting sub-ledger.

Requirements

• Strong financial analytical abilities with accounting knowledge.
• Prior experience with information technology finance and/or knowledge of project management concepts.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and SOP98-1 Capitalization guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Masters in Finance or Business Administration preferred.
