About the position
The position involves performing all activities required to safely drive a school bus, transporting students and other authorized personnel to and from schools and school-related events. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and regulations while ensuring a positive and disciplined environment for student passengers.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive a school bus transporting students and authorized personnel.
- Maintain discipline over student passengers to ensure safe driving.
- Assist student riders with special needs.
- Work with school bus attendants in managing all riders.
- Adhere to CCPS policy regarding qualifications for physical and health requirements.
- Read, understand, and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ensure regular attendance and punctuality in reporting to work.
Requirements
- Hold a valid CDL license to drive a school bus with airbrake certification or enroll in Campbell County Public Schools CDL training program.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for the past five years.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license CDL-B with P and S endorsements.
- Successful completion of CCPS bus driver training is required.
- Satisfactory pre-employment physical examination and completed physician's certificate required.
- Ability to adhere to state regulations and laws pertaining to school bus operations.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to converse on the two-way radio.
- Ability to read a standard road map and knowledge of local streets and roads.
- Ability to interact positively with students and maintain discipline.
