About The Position

The Student Union Building (SUB) is a vital part of campus life, offering a fun, fast-paced, and high-energy work environment where students can connect, collaborate, and create memorable experiences. The SUB is a dynamic workplace that provides leadership opportunities, teamwork, and hands-on professional development, from large campus-wide events to daily interactions. It's a great place for students who enjoy problem-solving, working with people, and being involved in campus activities. The Building Manager serves as the on-site leader during shifts, primarily responsible for supporting other student staff, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring all guests feel welcome and safe within the SUB. This role demands strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate will be able to start SUMMER 2026.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count)
  • If Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to Student Union Employee Handbook guidelines.
  • Provide clients with exemplary customer service and details necessary for their events.
  • Ensure the building is opened and closed according to guidelines, and proper building procedures are followed by guests and staff.
  • Complete daily reports and communicate all necessary information to supervisors.
  • Participate in necessary training and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring the building opens and closes according to guidelines.
  • Ensure the setup and/or breakdown of equipment in spaces according to the reservation specifications by delegating and directing work and assisting when needed.
  • Report any changes in setups to operational leadership.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment; ensuring all equipment is returned to the appropriate storage area when not in use.
  • Ensure that all equipment is always in fully operational condition and report any problems to the supervisor.
  • Alert supervisor when there is a need for ordering/replacing equipment or supplies.
