About the position
The Building Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance and repair work on buildings and grounds, ensuring that facilities remain in good working order. This role involves leading a team, conducting inspections, performing repairs, and mentoring employees in maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the work of others, without direct performance management responsibilities.
- Assign and oversee daily work tasks for a team.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of assigned areas to ensure functionality and serviceability.
- Complete scheduled checklists for building and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Repair various fixtures, hardware, and equipment, including doors, windows, and office appliances.
- Report major maintenance needs and recommend corrective actions.
- Mentor employees on minor tasks and assist in correcting mistakes.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in skilled trades, with leadership experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong knowledge of building, grounds, and facilities maintenance and repair methods and techniques.
- Well-organized, computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems and building management systems a plus.
- Universal refrigeration certification a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and precautions, including the use of power tools and safety regulations.
- Ability to work long hours, especially during inclement weather or emergencies like snow removal.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Nice-to-haves
