About the position

Benderson Development is seeking a Building Engineer to work as part of a team responsible for the preventative maintenance and corrective repair of office buildings, mechanical systems, equipment, and grounds. The role involves monitoring building system operations and performance while providing excellent customer service to tenants through effective communication and timely resolution of maintenance and repair issues.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect office building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors, including landscaping, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and irrigation systems, completing maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed for repairs, and order necessary materials and supplies.
  • Maintain an energy management program to operate all systems efficiently and minimize operating costs.
  • Maintain the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Document work orders and repair history including dates/times and vendor details.
  • Document and track inspection due dates for fire panels, backflow preventers, elevations, fire extinguishers, emergency generators, and other building systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A minimum of four years of related experience and/or trade school training.
  • Experience with chillers, cooling towers, VFD's access control systems, and energy management systems is necessary.
  • Possess and maintain a current valid Florida driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
  • Certifications/licenses may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
