About the position

The Senior Trades Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and functionality of Lee County facilities. This position involves performing building checks, monitoring building controls, and effectively communicating in both routine and emergency situations to maintain operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to work orders and complete requests efficiently.
• Obtain necessary parts while adhering to security and tool control measures.
• Conduct thorough walkthroughs of Lee County Facilities to identify building issues or potential safety hazards.
• Accurately document detailed work orders as required.
• Escort trades workers, vendors, and contractors for repairs and emergencies beyond routine maintenance.
• Work safely and proactively identify and address unsafe situations to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of two years of building maintenance experience, particularly in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC/building automation systems, or related fields.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully complete a fingerprint-based NCIC background check and obtain security clearance from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State's Attorney's Office.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of mechanical electronics, HVAC, building automation systems, electrical systems, carpentry, and relevant building codes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches.
• Additional licenses or certifications in relevant trades are a plus.
