About the position

The Budget Analyst position is located in the Bureau of Budget and Planning, responsible for the full range of budget development including formulation, justification, and presentation. The role involves collaboration with program officials to prepare annual budget estimates for the Department, OMB, and Congressional budget submissions, ensuring effective budget execution and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and carry out annual and multi-year budgeting in support of assigned appropriations.
  • Formulate budget estimates and cost-benefit analyses for programs, projects, activities, and personnel.
  • Coordinate the execution of the approved budget, adapting budgetary policies and analytical methods as needed.
  • Develop cost-benefit analyses for recommending changes in funding and budget plans.
  • Serve as a liaison between OMB staff and bureau budget offices.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience formulating and monitoring long-range detailed budgets.
  • Experience analyzing and evaluating the effects of changes in program plans and funding.
