About the position

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position emphasizes a commitment to customer service and quality, working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician. The role involves direct interaction with donors and requires adherence to industry regulations and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation including informed consent and medical history interview.
• Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions at the facility.
• Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
• Support vaccination programs for employees, such as Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu.
• Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency services.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• CPR and AED certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized nursing program.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy and complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Nice-to-haves
