About the position

The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer will provide front line broadcast engineering and technical support across several studios, control rooms, and newsroom at the Los Angeles NBC & Telemundo facility. The main duties of this position include supporting all broadcast systems and technology. The station support needs span 7 days a week, and at many times of year a 24x7 schedule. This position is a temporary role that will last two months, with a possibility of extending longer.

Responsibilities

• Support the local stations by maintaining electronic and digital equipment to support live on-air production, linear broadcast, and streaming requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex systems, including HD-SDI and 2110 routers, as well as other broadcast & production systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on studio & control room equipment and assist with technical setup.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast maintenance engineering.
• Strong understanding of newsroom and workflow computer systems.
• Hands on knowledge and experience with studio switching, automation control, graphics systems, audio systems, and IFB and PL communications systems in on-air environments.
• Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams and schematics for television control room and studio facilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital equipment to the component level.
• Deep knowledge of test equipment operation for diagnosis of all digital and analog signals.
• Possess the ability to prioritize and work independently with a high degree of detail.
• Position requires excellent interpersonal skills.
• Position requires a cool, levelheaded individual who works well under the pressures of live television.
• Understanding of the urgent needs of live on-air programs and the ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.
• Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds above the waist.
