About the position

The Emergency Shelter Staff Workers at Good Samaritan Shelter are responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Shelter. This role involves interacting with clients, maintaining records, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis. The position requires working graveyard shifts and includes various responsibilities related to client services and program management.

Responsibilities

  • Implements structure of Emergency Shelter program and services for day to day operations
  • Prepares incident reports, client file documents, program attendance cards and data collection as necessary
  • Interacts with adult clients and their children
  • Assists other Emergency Shelter staff in providing client services
  • Fulfills other essential responsibilities and duties as may be assigned and/or required
  • Oversees client medications in accordance with agency and certification standards
  • Attends meetings as directed in representation of the agency
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Assists with food preparation and distribution
  • May perform observed drug testing
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certification
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to accomplish goals and produce valuable results with minimal supervision
  • Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
  • Exercise mature judgement, and are highly motivated, self-starting and proactive
  • Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Ability to qualify for Good Samaritan Shelter insurance coverage
  • Successfully complete Tuberculosis Test, Background Screening, and Drug Test

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Shelter & Recovery Home Monitors (1 year preferred)
