About the position

Benesch is seeking a Bridge Design Project Manager to join our growing team in Boston, MA. This is an experienced position that involves exciting, challenging, and complex assignments with ample opportunities for professional growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and have over 10 years of experience in the design of structural projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various infrastructure projects for MassDOT, MBTA, local municipalities, and private clients. This role requires regular interaction and coordination of design efforts across multiple projects and disciplines. In this position, you will assist in the preparation of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), proposals, and contracts. You will also be responsible for researching local and state regulations as they pertain to projects. The role includes making presentations before elected officials and advisory boards, attending conferences, and participating in interviews. You will prepare technical analyses in various specialist areas, including load ratings, bridge design, and finite element analysis. Additionally, you will manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and quality assurance/quality control throughout the project lifecycle. This includes directing and managing the budgeting and execution of projects, as well as supervising assigned staff and subcontractors. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring you to work from our Boston office 2-3 times a week. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of SOQs, proposals, and contracts.
  • Research local/state regulations as they pertain to projects.
  • Make presentations before elected officials and advisory boards, attend conferences, and participate in interviews.

  • Responsible for project management, including cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance/quality control.
  • Direct and manage the budgeting and execution of projects including the supervision of assigned staff and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • PE License in MA required.
  • 10+ years of experience relating to structural engineering.
  • Excellent communication, strong written, oral, and client relation skills, with experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MassDOT and/or MBTA preferred, but not required.
