About the position

The position involves working in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest interaction. The role focuses on delivering exceptional culinary experiences through family-style service, teamwork, and adherence to departmental standards. The cook will be responsible for preparing menu items, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operating principles of cleanliness, safety, friendliness, and fun are adhered to at all times.
  • Display 'Family Style Service' to enhance guest experiences and build relationships.
  • Assist in creating a strong team environment and display a positive attitude.
  • Adhere to department service standards of being accommodating, attentive, and consistent.
  • Interact effectively and courteously with guests and employees, demonstrating resiliency in difficult situations.
  • Assist and advise other departments to ensure the successful performance of the culinary department.
  • Cook all menu items and present plates according to recipes and training.
  • Review staffing levels and control costs reflective of business levels.
  • Maintain menu items on the kitchen line according to recipes and training.
  • Assist management with sanitation laws and health regulations, ensuring compliance by kitchen employees.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen and all kitchen equipment.
  • Verify portion sizes, quality standards, and adherence to department rules by culinary employees.
  • Direct the correct production and execution of all food items as established by menus.
  • Use all kitchen equipment associated with certification level, including knives, ovens, stoves, grills, steamers, fryers, slicers, and mixers.
  • Review and assist with par levels, inventories, and purchasing of products to maintain costs and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Have a mastery level understanding of all skills and duties of Level 1, 2, and 3 Cooks.

Requirements

  • Two years of kitchen experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of all kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding of food safety (FIFO and labeling and product rotation).
  • Basic understanding of ordering, inventory, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of sanitation laws, health regulations, and applicable OSHA regulations.
