About the position
The R&D Breeding Assistant at Nong Woo Seed America, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the R&D team by collaborating with the R&D Breeder and R&D Field Manager to ensure the successful delivery of various agricultural trials. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, effective communication, and a strong work ethic, as the assistant will be involved in managing crop quality and implementing best farming practices.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D Breeder and R&D Field Manager to ensure superior crop quality and timing.
- Guide the growing process for designated crops and trials including sowing, transplanting, irrigation, and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
- Monitor plants for early detection of deviations and diseases.
- Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles and field management machines.
- Review maintenance records and manage materials and supplies.
- Request service and order supplies as needed.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in agriculture-related fields.
- Valid driver's license.
- Working knowledge of plant physiology and growing techniques.
- Experience applying pesticides and ability to acquire a pesticide applicator's license.
- Experience growing potted and/or soil-growing plants in an R&D environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience in greenhouse maintenance and repair.
