The Lincoln Journal Star, the capital city's daily newspaper, is looking for a full-time public safety/breaking news reporter who is eager to be first with the news as well as deliver important watchdog journalism to our readers. This reporter is often at the center of the day's biggest breaking news story, so competitiveness, urgency and initiative are important. But we also want a journalist who can investigate trends, find enterprise angles and pursue follow-ups on a beat that often centers on public safety. We want a candidate who can ask tough questions, investigate trends and find fresh angles to pursue. We have a strong culture of teamwork in our newsroom, which makes it a great environment for a new reporter to develop their skills and grow as a reporter and writer. We work hard and have fun. You'll be working weekdays in a newsroom of experienced reporters and editors, who are interested in helping you grow as a reporter and writer.
