About The Position

The Branch Sales Manager (BSM) is responsible for the rental and long-term leasing of trailers to the transportation marketplace. This role involves personal sales calls, marketing, and relationship building with customers. The BSM will also market ancillary services such as collision damage waiver and protected trailer parking. A key responsibility is P&L management, requiring the ability to manage, predict, and react to financial trends. The position demands a high volume of sales calls, consultative sales skills, and effective territory management. Overnight travel is required, and all sales activities must be logged in the CRM system. The BSM must also contribute to team efforts, maintain good attendance, and comply with company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a successful track record in sales to the transportation industry.
  • Strong relationship management skills with branch employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Business acumen and understanding of profit motives and drivers.
  • Experience at selling value added services.
  • Excellent at conflict resolution. Must be skilled in resolving customer/company disputes that arise to an amicable solution for both parties.
  • Occasionally check in and out trailers on and off of rental.
  • Help out and assist the operations manager in times of crisis to maintain a high level of customer service.
  • High percentage of cold calling in large branch territory.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Desire to achieve: desire to make six figures plus.
  • Ambitious: willing to go above and beyond what is expected by the customer and the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two weeks per month of overnight travel, with three to four overnight stays each of week.

Responsibilities

  • Rental of Trailers to the transportation marketplace.
  • Personal sales calls, marketing, and relationship building with the customer base.
  • Long-term leasing of trailers.
  • Marketing of ancillary services, such as collision Damage Waiver, and protected trailer parking.
  • P&L management, including the ability to manage, predict, and react to trends and results based on financial information.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, and accurate and highly productive manner according to company policy.
  • Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
  • Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis. Maintain good attendance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain handbooks.
  • Make a total of 10 scheduled sales calls per week (face to face customer visits), with additional in person sales calls required around scheduled visits.
  • Practice active consultative sales philosophy and integrate it into sales presentations.
  • Make the best use of sales time with a logistically logical sales plan to be sent to the sales manager by Thursday of the previous week.
  • Log all sales calls and activity into CRM system (Salesforce) with all calls from the previous week in the system by Monday of the following week.
  • Use CRM information as a tool for account management.
  • Work and communicate in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Company.
