About the position

The Branch Manager at M&T Bank is responsible for overseeing all activities within the branch, ensuring its overall success through effective management of customer and employee experiences, digital engagement, transactions, operations, servicing, and sales. This role includes personal production responsibilities and requires strong leadership to drive profitability and meet operational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities of the branch to ensure overall profitability and success.
  • Lead the branch team through coaching, performance management, and priority setting.
  • Identify customer needs and provide appropriate banking solutions using M&T sales processes.
  • Proactively grow Business Banking relationships through community outreach.
  • Conduct interviews and select employees based on staffing needs.
  • Model and coach customer service behaviors and maintain accountability for Retail strategy execution.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, security, and control policies to prevent fraud.
  • Handle complex account servicing and error resolution issues, providing coaching to reduce future escalations.
  • Engage with team members and business partners to resolve customer and employee issues.
  • Process Business Banking loan requests up to $100,000 and bundle products as needed.
  • Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls as per company standards.
  • Promote a diverse work environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Implement internal and external audit points and address issues raised by regulators.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum three years of sales experience.
  • Minimum two years of managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
  • Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing required within 18 months of entry into position.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Business Banking products and client relationship management.
  • M&T Way Certified and Precision Leadership Certified preferred.
  • Proficient in common PC software, including Microsoft Office for word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with Internet and email preferred.
