About the position

The University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking a tenured faculty member to serve as the Director of the UCSB Brain Imaging Center (BIC) within the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences. This position is aimed at candidates with a strong research background in cognitive neuroscience and brain imaging methodologies, particularly fMRI. The director will oversee the administration of the BIC, manage staff, coordinate research access, and secure funding while also maintaining an active research program and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Director of the UCSB Brain Imaging Center (BIC).
• Administer the center's staff and supervise technical maintenance of the MRI system.
• Coordinate scanner access among various research groups.
• Secure external funding sources for the center.
• Submit annual budget and activity reports to UCSB's administration.
• Define a general research agenda for the BIC.
• Maintain an actively funded research program in cognitive neuroscience.
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
• Recruit, supervise, and mentor graduate students.
• Participate in university service and professional activities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Psychological and Brain Sciences or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience with brain imaging methodology, especially fMRI.
• Must possess a Full Professor rank or an equivalent title recognized by the UC system.

Nice-to-haves

• Published articles in scholarly journals using brain imaging/fMRI data.
• Published scholarly articles on the methods and analytics of brain imaging/fMRI technology.
• Experience working in a clinical environment using brain imaging technology/fMRI.
