About the position

The Body Shop Manager at GTG Peterbilt is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Body Shop department, ensuring efficient and profitable service delivery while maintaining high customer satisfaction. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, and fostering communication between departments and with vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Establish financial and operating objectives for the Body Shop in support of the company's annual business planning process.
  • Prepare operating and capital budgets for the Body Shop, reviewing them regularly and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Provide management information to Senior Leadership regarding Body Shop operations, including forecasts and market trends.
  • Evaluate Body Shop performance against target goals and standards, taking appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Establish and foster relationships with key outside vendors and insurance companies.
  • Manage insurance company requirements with customer expectations regarding deductibles, communications, and payment methods.
  • Maintain good customer relations by addressing all customer concerns and mediating solutions between all parties involved.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer and vendor warranty procedures and follow up on vendor credits and allowances.
  • Interview and hire Body Shop employees, overseeing the purchasing and acquisition of appropriate department tooling and equipment.
  • Ensure the department achieves acceptable productivity and efficiency while adhering to company goals and policies.
  • Address personnel issues, including performance appraisals and improvement plans.
  • Hold monthly shop meetings to review safety, policies, procedures, and customer issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the organization, shop, and office area, ensuring overall upkeep of the facility and grounds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three to five years of heavy-duty truck service or related experience with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Management skills including strategic plan development, decision-making abilities, and program implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good mathematical skills and basic computer skills, particularly knowledge of Windows.
  • Ability to coach, train, and motivate staff to reach established department goals.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications from OEMs in the trucking industry.
  • Preferred 2-years tech school with 3-5 years of industry and management experience.
