Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the work unit under the direction of the BMG Manager.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and supervises daily support activities performed by staff.
  • Assures adequate levels of staff, supplies, and equipment to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Assists in the development of systems that maximize patient service and provider support.
  • Acts as a direct resource for providers, managers, and staff in information and problem solving related to surgical and clinical schedules.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of office operations.
  • Performs office functions including registration, appointment scheduling, answering phones, cashiering, and medical records duties.
  • Provides coverage for staff absences as needed.
  • Coordinates day-to-day practice operations to ensure patient service that is friendly, helpful, and efficient.
  • Implements and maintains procedures that optimize patient flow, customer service, and provider productivity.
  • Serves as a role model to staff in dealings with patients.
  • Documents patient contacts according to Bassett policy and procedure.
  • Assures that all available appointment time is fully utilized according to departmental policy.
  • Acts as a resource to staff, providing needed information or direction.
  • Maintains necessary levels of supplies to meet departmental needs.
  • Exercises supervisory authority to ensure employees meet customer service standards.
  • Participates in the selection of new employees following departmental policies.
  • Prepares work schedules and ensures offices are staffed appropriately.
  • Assigns staff to job functions and approves time-cards according to departmental policy.
  • Coaches, directs, and monitors staff to ensure adherence to job standards and policies.
  • Completes annual and mid-year performance appraisals for assigned staff.
  • Ensures compliance with procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identifies safety-related issues and addresses them.
  • Develops policy or protocol within the division or clinic.
  • Assists the Manager with preparation of reports and project completion.
  • Attends meetings and serves on committees as needed.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare responsibility with progressive levels of responsibility required.
  • NYS Driver's License preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Business School graduate or Associate's Degree in Business or Business Management preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business or healthcare field may be substituted for experience.
