About The Position

This position is responsible for the collection of all biotechnology samples for the genetic gain of pedigree chickens. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Nice To Haves

Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

Uses needle/syringe to collect blood samples from Pedigree birds for genomic selection and to monitor bird health and diseases (50%)
Prepares, cleans and sanitizes sampling and blood testing instruments (15%)
Records information according to instructions for sampling of pedigree chickens (25%)
Moves birds as required to other houses per house schedule; cleans and disinfects the equipment and vehicles used in moving birds, supplies, or equipment on the farm; helps other departments as needed; properly euthanizes selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy; off-farm shopping for supplies. (10%)
