Requirements

  • Associates Degree from a two year college or equivalent training in an affiliated health field required.
  • A minimum of two years experience in equipment maintenance is required.
  • OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.
  • Employee must be able to pass a local government agency (coroner’s office) background check.
  • Reliable automotive transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Documents equipment management plan for each piece of equipment used in organ, eye, and tissue recovery.
  • Incoming new equipment – responsible for inspection, function testing following manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Tests or calibrates components or equipment, following manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, using hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices.
  • Keeps records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment.
  • Coordinates daily monitoring of all equipment including but not limited to freezers, autoclaves, refrigerators, centrifuges, ventilators, CT scanner, x-ray machine, and documenting appropriately when required.
  • Tests, evaluates, and classifies excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition, in accordance with regulations.
  • Examines medical equipment or facility's structural environment and checks for proper use of equipment to protect patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards and to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Researches catalogs or repair part lists to locate sources for repair parts, requisitioning parts and recording their receipt.
  • Explains or demonstrates correct operation or preventive maintenance of medical equipment to personnel.
  • Contributes expertise to develop medical maintenance standard operating procedures.
  • Studies technical manuals and/or attends training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge.
  • Monitors and examines equipment usage at all recovery locations and complete maintenance program responsibilities accordingly.
  • Maintains constant communications with the recovery locations to monitor the equipment and provide updates accordingly.
  • Ensures cleanliness of equipment areas at each OneLegacy facilities as outlined in OneLegacy’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Facilitates Quality System’s audits of all OneLegacy supply vendors.
  • Performs responsibilities as a manager designee to review accuracy and completeness of all forms of documentation used in Central Supply Operations for equipment management.
  • Assists manager to facilitate preparation of Central Supply Operations for internal or external audits/inspections.
  • Performs inspections of all OneLegacy recovery facilities; frequency of inspections is at the discretion of management.
  • Purchases and maintains vehicles for deliveries.
  • Assists with decision on whether to lease or buy vehicles.
  • Assists in the recruitment/training of quality drivers into the fleet.
  • Develops driving schedules to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manages drivers so they adhere to strict schedules and time requirements.
  • Arranges for smog testing, registering, and licenses of vehicles in the fleet.
  • Maintains detailed records of each vehicle’s servicing and inspections.
  • Complies with US Department of Transport laws and regulations
  • Ensures struck servicing and maintenance time so as to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Monitors driver behavior and/or driver reports, ensuring a high level of safety and customer service.
  • Analyzes data to increase business operational efficiency.
  • Utilizes GPS and other computerized tracking systems to monitor drivers and ensure safety and compliance with transportation laws and OneLegacy policies.
  • Inspects vehicles for evidence of abuse, damage, or mechanical malfunctions and takes corrective actions as required.
  • Maintains, creates, and reviews vehicle logs, shipping papers, or driver and equipment records to detect any problems or to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Inspects vehicles to ensure compliance with rules, standards, or regulations
  • Investigates complaints regarding safety violations.
  • Investigates incidents or violations, such as delays, accidents, equipment failures, and makes timely reports to leadership.
  • Issues notices and recommendations for corrective actions when infractions or problems are identified.
  • Prepares reports on investigations or inspections and actions take
  • Seeks out measures to lower the cost of supplies so as to positively affect the budget.
  • Seeks out the highest quality supplies for the best value.
  • Ensures that employee performance self-evaluation is completed within company guidelines.
  • Attends all department staff meetings, annual hazard communication and control safety training sessions for Cal-OSHA, contract processors, and other training programs as deemed necessary by the Project Manager of Organs and Tissue Operations
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with policies and procedures, regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable federal, state and local laws. Performs quality control practices as defined by the policies and procedures.
  • Supports the organization’s Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy Employee Handbook, and the mission, vision and values.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
