About the position
The Biology Instructor at Seward County Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in various biology courses, including Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, and Nutrition. The role involves preparing syllabi, facilitating student learning, advising, tutoring, and evaluating students. The instructor will engage in both lecture and laboratory settings, with a typical teaching load of 30 credit hours per academic year. This full-time position may require teaching assignments during evenings and is part of a 172-day contract.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach lecture and laboratory courses in Biology.
- Develop syllabi and instructional materials for courses.
- Facilitate student learning in classroom and lab settings.
- Recruit, advise, and tutor students as needed.
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
- Engage in institutional practices to support student success.
Requirements
- Master's Degree or higher in Biology or a related field with 18 hours in Biology preferred.
- Evidence of thorough and accurate knowledge of the discipline.
- Previous teaching experience in community college or secondary education preferred.
- Bachelor's degree with 18 credit hours in graduate-level organismal or pathophysiological coursework also considered.
