Responsibilities

• Conduct surveillance activities and epidemiologic investigations of reportable diseases.
• Assist TB nurse case manager with contact investigations and outreach.
• Utilize and maintain proficiency in statewide computerized surveillance systems.
• Collect, collate, analyze, and present surveillance data through reports and presentations.
• Conduct demonstrations and classes on reportable disease topics.
• Provide consultations and support to community agencies and health care providers.
• Assist with statistical data collection and analysis for other health department programs.

Requirements

• Knowledge of infectious diseases and terminology used in biological and epidemiological research.
• Ability to perform epidemiologic assessment and analysis.
• Ability to recognize public health problems and conduct surveillance activities.
• Ability to summarize results of epidemiologic investigations and draw conclusions.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Effective communication skills and ability to establish working relationships.
• Ability to teach important concepts to colleagues.
