About the position
The Biological Science Technician position at the Department of Agriculture's Dale Bumpers Small Farm Research Unit involves assisting in various phases of the research process. The role includes performing technical duties in laboratory, field, or greenhouse environments, contributing to the collection, preparation, evaluation, and verification of biological samples and data.
Responsibilities
- Collect, prepare, evaluate, and verify samples and supporting records.
- Maintain records and compile data from various sources.
- Keep detailed records of experimental data.
- Tabulate, statistically analyze, and summarize data using personal computers and software packages.
- Perform routine and recurring techniques and studies using specialized equipment.
- Maintain, calibrate, and modify equipment and automated systems used for testing and evaluation procedures.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status.
- Recent graduate with a qualifying degree or certificate from an accredited institution within the last 2 years (or 6 years for veterans).
- Specialized experience or education as defined for GS-05, GS-06, and GS-07 levels.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with biological research techniques.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software.
