About the position

The Folding Machine Operator at Varsity Spirit plays a crucial role in the Yearbook Bindery Production Team, operating folding equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position focuses on quality and safety while ensuring the efficient production of high school and college yearbooks. The operator will be responsible for setting up machines, conducting trial runs, and monitoring operations to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain folding equipment.
• Complete scheduled maintenance on the folding machine during shifts.
• Check for quality and accuracy of the folded products.
• Read detailed work orders to determine setup specifications and efficiently set up the assigned machine.
• Initiate trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setup.
• Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years' experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Experience working in a high-volume shipping dock.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret documents such as tracking sheets and work orders.
• Proven ability to excel in a high production manufacturing environment focusing on safety and quality control.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus.
• Experience folding large, printed signatures with MBO or Heidelberg folding machines is a plus.
