About the position
The Bilingual Transportation Specialist at the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) plays a crucial role in supporting transitional foster care by coordinating transportation for unaccompanied minors. This position involves physically escorting children who have fled their countries and are in the process of being reunited with sponsors in the U.S. The specialist will ensure safe and timely transport to various appointments while maintaining a focus on the organization's mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate transportation for youth, including organizing travel destinations and physically escorting them to appointments.
- Supervise youth during transit to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Coordinate medical and clinical transports with appropriate staff.
- Track and assign doctor appointments and maintain a daily roster of transport details.
- Document missed appointments or unusual events and report to management.
- Schedule and track group outings on a weekly basis.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of assigned vehicles, ensuring they are fueled and in safe operating condition.
- Provide safety training to new hires every three weeks and track safety checklist compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Experience working with at-risk youth.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Valid driver's license.
