About the position

The Bilingual / ELL Education Classroom Teacher is responsible for instructing English Language Learner students in a bilingual learning environment. The role aims to motivate, stimulate, and inspire students to learn and develop the necessary skills and knowledge to their greatest potential. The teacher will implement the Bilingual Education program according to state guidelines and district policies, ensuring that students receive instruction in both their native language and English. The position requires strong communication skills, cultural understanding, and the ability to create an effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Bilingual Education program according to state guidelines.
  • Direct and supervise the conduct of all students assigned in the classroom.
  • Instruct students in their native language and culture as well as in English.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their potential.
  • Encourage each child to develop a sense of worth, dignity, and purpose.
  • Teach English Language Arts, social science, mathematics, science, and health.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to present material.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth.
  • Communicate with parents regarding students' progress.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff.
  • Create an effective environment for learning.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development.
  • Attend all required meetings and conferences.

Requirements

  • State of Illinois Professional Educator License with required endorsements.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership and academic competence.
  • Fluency in the language of the target population and English.
  • Understanding of cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Familiarity with Bilingual and ESL coursework and curricula.
  • Competence in 'Best Practice' teaching methodology.
