About the position

The Bilingual Special Education Paraprofessional assists the Special Education teacher in any and all areas necessary for learning, including working with students one-on-one and in small groups. This role requires proficiency in English and Spanish. The paraprofessional implements academic instruction designed by teachers to meet learning goals. They model a servant's heart and promote an attitude of respect, teamwork, and professionalism by speaking well of other faculty and staff members. The position supports the entire school system, including lower school, middle school, and upper school, and involves praying for and with other faculty and staff, encouraging others in Godly living and excellence, and holding others accountable in a loving manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher as needed, including providing direct instruction one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Understand IEP goals and implement strategies to attain individual goals.
  • Facilitate mainstream opportunities in general education classrooms.
  • Complete classroom tasks such as setting up supplies, handing out papers, making copies, assembling booklets or assignments, and correcting homework.
  • Work with the Teacher on prioritizing tasks for timeliness and efficiency.
  • Monitor special education students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Anticipate needs and perform tasks proactively.
  • Accompany students to and from buildings and classrooms.
  • Perform yard duty as assigned.
  • Connect with students and motivate them positively.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to assist in implementing IEP goals.
  • Experience working with special education students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
