About the position

The Lead Barista at Cafe Roig is responsible for overseeing the barista team, ensuring high-quality beverage preparation, exceptional customer service, and smooth operations during shifts. This role includes training new baristas, maintaining inventory, and assisting the manager with daily tasks while actively preparing drinks. The Lead Barista acts as a leader within the team, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor new baristas on beverage preparation techniques and customer service standards.
• Delegate tasks to the barista team based on workload and skill level.
• Provide feedback and coaching to team members to improve performance.
• Address any issues or concerns within the team promptly.
• Ensure consistent quality in beverage preparation, adhering to established recipes and standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and place orders when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the coffee bar area and equipment.
• Open and close the coffee shop as needed, following proper procedures.
• Provide friendly and engaging customer service to all guests.
• Actively listen to customer requests and customize drinks according to their preferences.
• Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.
• Manage the flow of customers during peak hours, ensuring efficient service.
• Monitor sales and identify opportunities to increase revenue.
• Address any operational issues that arise during the shift.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• 1 year of barista experience
• 1 year of leadership experience
• Excellent coffee brewing skills
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Leadership qualities and ability to train and motivate others
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards
• Basic cash handling and POS system knowledge
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
