About the position

The Bilingual Assistant Site Coordinator will work closely with youth who are in the early stages of learning English. This role involves assisting with site staff supervision, recruiting students, facilitating youth program activities, and maintaining the site. The position also requires driving a 15-passenger van for student transportation and completing necessary training and maintenance for the vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers/tutors in meeting the needs of students in the early stages of learning English.
• Help the new immigrant student assimilate to their new life in the U.S.
• Assist with management of day-to-day operations of the program sites, including organization, maintenance, cleaning, safety, and security.
• Assist with maintenance of student files, progress reports, attendance, and other necessary participant documents.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining relationship and communication with youth and parents and staff regarding student's needs and progress.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining communication with the participant's school regarding student's needs.
• Assist with coordinating and recruiting tutors and tutor volunteers.
• Assist with planning curriculum activities and supervising implementation.
• Perform other duties as required by Site Coordinator.
• Attend staff meetings, training session, and program special events.

Requirements

• Bilingual in Somali and English.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Computer skills.
• Communication skills.
• Entry-level experience working with youth.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency in Somali or Maay Maay is preferred.
• College degree preferred.
