About the position

The hospice clergy member is responsible for coordinating spiritual care to hospice patients and families and is in charge of coordinating a bereavement program for the families of hospice patients. Must have the ability to work autonomously, as well as with the interdisciplinary team including coordinating and working directly with hospice volunteers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate spiritual care to hospice patients and families.
  • Manage a bereavement program for families of hospice patients.
  • Work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate and work directly with hospice volunteers as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree from a theological school and has fulfilled denominational seminary requirements; or an individual who, by ordination or authorization from the individual's denomination, has been approved to function in a pastoral capacity.
  • Experience or education in grief or loss counseling.
  • American Heart Association Heart Saver Certification or higher.
  • Valid NC Driver's License for company car use.
  • Minimum insurance requirements defined in agency travel policy.
  • Frequent travel throughout the ECU Health service area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years ministerial experience preferred.
  • Studies in clinical pastoral care and participation in education programs dealing with the subject of death/dying or Hospice experience preferred.
