About The Position

The Benefits Administrator works within the Office of People and Culture and supports the Bethel employee community through the administration of Bethel's health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave plans, and voluntary benefits. This includes providing care, education and great customer service to advance our strategic pillar of creating a thriving employee culture. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter looking to grow their experience in employee benefits and leave administration while contributing to Bethel's mission to educate and equip students to lead lives of impact through transformative academics in a Christ-centered community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree – Business, Human Resources or a related field.
  • Associates degree in business with 2+ years of experience would also be considered.
  • 1-2 years of Benefits Administration experience or working in Human Resources.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle employee concerns with empathy and sincerity.
  • High sense of attentiveness and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, benefit rules and regulations, and benefits analysis techniques.
  • Ability and desire to learn.
  • Have ability to work on several tasks.
  • Able to maintain composure in complex situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive and HRIS systems
  • Able to handle high degree of confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • Leave management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and communication regarding various University benefits to employees.
  • Provide oversight and communication regarding University retirement and pension plans, partnering with employees through the retirement process.
  • Partner with OPC leadership to evaluate benefit options during annual renewal process. Make recommendations based on employee feedback and knowledge of marketplace.
  • Meet with new and prospective (where applicable) staff and faculty to communicate benefit options as part of onboarding process.
  • Coordination of data transfer to external vendors for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Audit and/or reconcile benefit vendor billing.
  • Prepare, collect, and organize benefit data and documents.
  • Serves as the University’s Privacy Officer.
  • Provide oversight and management of Minnesota Paid and Family Leave, Workers’ Compensation, Disability, FMLA, and leave processes.
  • Notify and meet with all qualified employees of rights & responsibilities under FMLA and Minnesota Paid and Family Leave.
  • Assist Business Partner with ADA interactive process with employees.
  • Serve as the contact for benefit inquiries.
  • Assist employees with the benefit enrollment process.
